Paul over at Andoriod.modaco.com got to spend a bit of time playing hands-on with the new AndyPad and AndyPad Pro. The standard AndyPad will land for £129 and the AndyPad Pro is pegged at £169. Both of those prices include shipping. We already know the hardware details on the Android tablets with each getting Rock Chip 1.2Ghz processors, 512MB of RAM, and mini HDMI outputs along with microUSB and 3.5mm headphone ports.
The AndyPad gets a 7-inch WVGA screen with resistive tech and the AndyPad Pro gets a larger 7-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive screen. Other key differences include the AndyPad has a front camera only with the pro getting a front and 2MP rear camera. The Pro also has Bluetooth and 16GB of storage. The normal version has 8GB of storage.
The first impressions on the AndyPad basic unit aren’t that great. The lack of gesture support is bemoaned and the tablet screen is said to be poor overall. The Pro version screen is brighter and can be seen clearly form all angles and multitouch is included. The base unit is focused on the low price and the more expensive Pro version is the better all around tablet, but the price is a lot more.
