Google’s Android Wear app has been updated with the main reason for the update being to prepare the app for new features that are coming down the line. While getting the app ready for those future features Google also decided to give the app a new look as well.
After updating the app, Google Wear users will note that the app prompts them to “Connect your watch to Wi-Fi with Wear Cloud Sync.” It will also allow Google Fit to store sensor data from the watch. The updated look makes the watch app look similar to other Material apps.
One of the main changes is a new tips card that aims to tech users more about their smartwatch. Another new card directs users toward apps that can be installed on the watch. Usability has been updated as well with new usability settings in the menu.
There are settings for calendar that allow the user to choose which calendars display from associated accounts. A submenu lets users uncheck calendars they don’t want to see. The update should be rolling out to users over the next few days.
