More exciting things are coming Android Auto‘s way. (Or is it?) Why, the AVIC Development Mod can soon change the functions of an SD card in a Pioneer AVIC unit. This means it can be anything that is compatible, now allowing Android Auto to receive third-party ROMs and modify user interfaces or themes. We never really doubted that Android Auto can be altered because you know, almost anything today can be hacked, modified, or customized.
It was only a matter of time before we could change Android Auto. Google meant to control what apps could run on the platform for security reasons but you know that’s already far from impossible. Phone and car interact through the Android Auto interface and Google simply wants to make things safe. Unfortunately, a lot of people find it very limiting and doing some mods is the next best thing to do.
The AVIC Development Mod also means one can install the Android Auto OS on Pioneer AVIC hardware that are not part of the Android lineup. This could add other new features to old systems like WiFi. Anyone who knows how to hack and understand codes can easily do more with their Android Auto and dashboard hardware. Of course, there are many risks so a lot of things could go wrong. It can be easy for geniuses out there to do their thing but as someone who wants my devices always secure (and yeah, can’t read complicated codes), I suggest you stay away from this and just let Google work on improving Android Auto for you. You’ll never know what viruses and vulnerabilities could be added to your system that might endanger your safety. There is a huge possibility of exploitation here.
But if you think you know what you’re going to do here, go one and check out this AVIC Development Mod. Read complete instructions on this page on how to make your own ROM an an SDcard and boot. Again, do this AT YOUR OWN RISK. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
