The Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 3 was released last year but it’s only now that it’s getting the Android Marshmallow update. This one is especially for the unlocked IDOL 3 phones in the United States so if you own one, you’re lucky to be able to download the new SOFTware update. This is for all units brought from any mobile carrier in the country. You don’t have to ask when your network will finally release Android 6.0 as it’s now ready for download.

As with any other Marshmallow updates, the IDOL 3 will receive major changes and new features like the Doze mode, better app permissions, Now on Tap, App Standby, and a longer battery life. Android 6.0 supports fingerprint but unfortunately, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 doesn’t have any fingerprint sensor or scanner. Phone impresses though with its high-quality audio coutesy of Harmon Clari-Fi Technology and Dual 1.2 Watt Front-Facing JBL Stereo Speakers.

To review, the Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 comes equipped with the following: 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, 64-bit Octa-Core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, microSD card slot, 16GB onboard storage, 8MP front-facing camera with wide-angle lens, 13MP main camera, 2GB RAM, and a 2910mAh battery. If you think the internal memory is not enough, the microSD card slot allows for storage expansion.

Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is usually priced at $300. As for the latest Android Marshmallow, expect to receive an over-the-air (OTA) notification from your mobile carrier or just check your settings manually.
