Finally, the old Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 are getting the much-anticipated Android Marshmallow update. We were confused earlier because a Samsung regional office said the fluffy update won’t be coming anymore to the first-gen Tab S models but Samsung confirmed immediately that it will be ready according to a document discovered on Samsung’s official website.

There was some Marshmallow reference to four Galaxy Tab S models on a user manual so we thought it was safe to assume that Android 6.0 will be ready after months of waiting. But enough of speculations, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S is getting an update to Android Marshmallow. Sighted on Samsung Germany is a software update ready for the Galaxy Tab S SM-T805 which is the 10.1 LTE model. This update is specifically the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow whose update size is less than 1GB at only 812MB.

The smaller 8.4 variant, the SM-T705 model, is also getting the same Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The updates deliver new features, bug fixes, stability improvements, better app permissions, enhanced battery life with the Doze mode, and a redesigned App Drawer.

The rollout will happen in increments so don’t be disappointed when you haven’t received any notification yet. Just wait or check your Settings manually by going to Settings> About Device> Software Update> Download Updates Manually.
