If you have a Nexus 4, and have been waiting patiently for the KitKat update, good for you. It can be hard to wait for things you really want, and your wait is nearly over. The update is currently rolling out, so it’s only a matter of time, now. But, if you just can’t hold out any longer, there is a way to get the update.

Over at XDA, the official updates are listed in all their glory. By using ADB, you can side load the update to your Nexus 4. There are also updates for those on Jellybean as well as the first build of Android 4.4.

The best part is, you don’t even have to be rooted. We will, as we always do, caution you before side loading any update or ROM, even one that is official. Doing so can have consequences, and you should check with your carrier before doing anything, unless you own your device outright. If you own your Nexus 4, by all means, do as you please.

If you can hold out, an official OTA is always the safest bet. If you’re itching to have the Android 4.4 update, now you can. Just know that you won’t get the Google Now launcher, which is only for the Nexus 5 right now. We hope to see it on other devices, specifically Nexus, soon.
