Motorola have finally pushed out the Android 2.1 firmware update for the Motorola MILESTONE, with the software being available today for direct download or, the company promise, as an OTA update in the next few days. Android 2.1 brings with it the potential for up to 9 homescreen panes, Live Wallpapers, speech-to-text and various bug and security fixes.
It’s been a few months since Motorola’s last update for the MILESTONE, which saw the handset blessed with Android 2.0.1. In the meantime, Motorola’s other Android devices – those with MOTOBLUR – have languished with Android 1.6.
You can download Android 2.1 for the MILESTONE here, though you’ll need a PC to install it to your phone. More details in the release notes [PDF link]; let us know how you get on!
