Who likes to save money? Everyone who isn’t trying to get rid of it as fast as they can… so yeah everyone! If you’re sick of your current carrier (who isn’t Verizon) or want to start a new smartphone contract, then Amazon has deals you should look into. From the Droid Incredible 2 at only a penny, to some LTE goodness with the Droid Charge for $129.99, You may want to think twice about the instant gratification of getting the phone from a store, and give the deals a peak.
Waiting for your contract to expire can seem like forever, especially with how often the newest, shiniest phones come out these days. If you wait though, you will be rewarded with the ability to cancel that old contract and start a new one with a shiny new phone at a fraction of the cost. Amazon seems to be in the giving mode, as it sometimes does, and is offering up awesome deals on many of Verizon’s newest and fastest phones. Here’s the deals so far for those of you looking for a new phone:
HTC Droid Incredible: $0.01
Motorola Droid 3 (dual-core): $69.99
Motorola Droid X2 (dual-core): $59.99
HTC Thunderbolt (4G): $99.99
Samsung Droid Charge (4G): $129.99
Of course the downside here is that by starting a new contract, you’d be moving over to Verizon’s super awesome new tiered data plans (to be super clear, that was sarcastic). If you have unlimited data on Verizon already, and even come close to using 2 GB of data a month, then it probably isn’t worth killing and starting a new contract for these deals. If you’re already on another carrier switching to Verizon, or don’t use too much data though, by all means these prices are much easier to handle then the prices you’d normally see on them.
Its a little upsetting that Amazon only offers these deals to customers starting a new contract, denying those who are eligible for an upgrade after sticking with their contract for two years. It makes sense economically. A new customer means a new contract, while the old customer is already here, and won’t leave unless there’s some incentive to great to ignore, but in a world where carriers get trashed by angry customers all the time, doing a little to build customer loyalty might not be such a bad idea, but I digress.
If you’re looking for a new Verizon contract, make sure to hit these deals up, while they are around. Just remember it means capped data for the next two years.
