Amazon Fire tablet owners that like to keep up to date with national news have a new app offering exclusive access. The app is from the Washington Post and Kindle Fire owners will get exclusive access at no cost for six months. The app was build for national and international readers.
The app will showcase The Posts’s national and international news coverage along with photography and informative graphics. Core features of the app include pinch view allowing users to swipe through the pages of the paper as they would in the real world.
The app offers high-resolution graphics and a read view that makes an article take the full page complete with graphics and video. Navigation promises to make browsing through sections of the paper easy. The digital version of that paper was created specifically for the tablet reader and will have editions published twice daily.
Those editions will be published at 5am and 5pm ET and cover breaking news and updates. The app is coming to Fire tablet users as part of an OTA update. Presumably, after the first six months, the Washington Post hopes users of the app will subscribe. The app will come to additional devices in 2015.
