Amazon tablets definitely have an audience. If not, the company won’t bother upgrading the Fire OS platform like it did last week and update the product lineup with a new addition like this Fire 8 HD Reader’s Edition. This new version is targeted for the avid readers who like to bring their e-books everywhere and continue where they left off anytime, anywhere.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet comes with Kindle Unlimited for one whole year. This means you can access over one million e-books for your reading pleasure. For only $249.99, the new tablet already comes with a limited edition leather cover. Making this mobile device a winner is the new Blue Shade feature that was added to the Fire OS recently. It’s a new technology that reduces blue light exposure so you won’t have a hard time falling asleep especially at night. Blue Shade adjusts the display to improve reading mode even in dark or low light conditions. Lesser exposure to blue light is beneficial for people who like to use their tablets just before bedtime.

Amazon has just listed the Fire HD 8 Reader’s Edition for pre-order. Features include an 8-inch HD display screen, Blue Shade, 8GB on-board storage, unknown quad-core processor, 1-year access to Kindle Unlimited, and free 30-day Audible trial. The tablet boasts of a thin and light design that is perfect for mobile reading or browsing.

Since this one is ideal for the digital bookworms, you can take advantage of the tablet’s reading features like Bookerly Font, adjustable fonts, multi-colored highlights, Word Runner, Audible, Whispersync for Voice, Immersion Reading, Kindle Sharing, and Goodreads integration among others.

Right now, you can avail of the limited edition Fire HD tablet with a leather cover (worth $100) for only $249. The Kindle Unlimited which is worth about $120 for one year or $9.99 per month comes free with this deal.

  1. lemme know when they come out with a 7inch version.

also, for those curious, there are various apps available for android devices that will automatically tweak the color light produced according to either ‘sunset/sunrise’ timing, or a schedule of your choosing. my wife and i use one that is free, but requires root, and was designed by a dev over at XDA
