Usually, when a game that has been available for Android mobile devices adds support for Android TV, it’s almost likely the same app under the same listing. Developers need to just make a few tweaks to make it functional on the larger screen, but it’s built into the same SDK. But Noodlecake Studios, for one reason or another, has put the game Alto’s Adventure under a new listing now that it has Android TV support. And they’re even charging for it with no free option.
Alto’s Adventure is a pretty cool (pun intended) snowboarding adventure game that has been available for Android mobile devices for some time now. It is free to play and there is just one in-app purchase ($4 to double the coins that you earn when snowboarding down the mountain) but of course you can choose not to pay that and just play it as it is. But apparently, if you want to play it on your Android TV, you would have to pay for it at $3.99.
That’s probably okay if you really wanted to play it on a bigger screen. And a game like this is probably always fun for that platform, just sitting in front of your couch on a lazy weekend, trying to get cool (literally) by playing a game that looks cold. But if you already paid that IAP on the mobile game, you’d have to shell out more money just to be able to play it on your Android TV.
We hope it was just something that Noodlecake Studios is testing out, but in the event that it is not, and you really want to play Alto’s Adventure on your Android TV, you can download it from the Google Play Store for $3.99, if that’s alright with you.
