Any photographer (or graphic artist) worth his or her salt know that having RAW support for any device or app is a really good thing to have. Shooting in this format is better than JPEG as it gives you more freedom to manually modify your images without having to suffer any generational loss or something. Processing RAW takes time though, so you need a powerful app or program to help you do so. You can now add Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to the list of apps that can help you with your RAW photos.
Adobe Lightroom has been a good friend for desktop users who need a reliable program to process their RAW images. But if you need to do it on your mobile device, then the Android app version of it is the next best thing. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom version 2.2 is now able to import these RAW images from your DSLR camera directly to your smartphone where you can edit and then share your photos without having to export them to JPEG or some other “lighter” format.
To be able to transfer the images, you would need a USB On-the-Go (OTG) cable. After you’ve connected it, you should go to your Android notification center and choose the PTP transfer mode. You will then go to the usual import screen then select the photos you want to transfer. You will then import it directly to the Photoshop Lightroom app and afterwards, you can sync it to all your devices that have the app.
To be able to enjoy this RAW support, you have to upgrade your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom app to version 2.2. It supports any kind of third-party OTG cable out there, so no need to worry about buying the more expensive ones.
I cant make it work directly from a Canon 6D. I can make it work using a very small card reader..and then copying the files from there on over to a folder already on the android internally. Then lightroom mobile will import the raw. Just a no go direct from a canon 6D DSLR.
