We were all looking at a Predator tablet (which they did unveil as well) but we didn’t see a gaming smartphone coming. Acer previewed at the IFA today the Predator 6, an ultra powerful smartphone that they’re hoping will attract the mobile gamers as they are the ones that the Taiwanese OEM is targeting. This further expands their Predator gaming lineup, which already has powerful laptops, even fancy projector screens, plus the recently announced Predator 8 gaming tablet as well.
Of course the ultimate selling point of this Predator is its deca-core processor. Yes, you heard that right, it does have ten cores in one processor, although it doesn’t really mean that all cores will be active simultaneously. It really depends on the activity you’re doing. Some of the cores will work when you’re doing something that requires a little more firepower like playing games, while if you’re just doing just simple word processing, then it will just use the frugal cores.
Aside from the deca-core, the Predator 6 will also, obviously, have a 6-inch HD display. It is housed in a weird angular casing. The smartphone also has four full speakers in the front, which is meant for times when you’re playing a game with awesome sounds. It also has 4GB of memory, motion sensors, and haptic feedback.
But since the Predator 6 is still launching early next year, there was only one unit that they showed around at IFA 2015. But they’re not yet letting anyone touch the unit so no one can really verify if it is indeed a hardcore smartphone for gamers.
