Pandigital is known for manufacturing some of the best digital photo frames. This time around they are offing a very affordable Android powered eReader dubbed the Novel. This device will set you back a mere $199 and ships in June.
“Barnes & Noble’s strategy is to offer our content on multiple platforms, so we’re happy to power this new device and others. Nook is a dedicated eReading device with key design, reading and in-store features that are innovative, immersive and exciting for our customers. We don’t believe our continued work with third-party partners will have any effect on our continued strong Nook sales.”
The Pandigital Novel is an Android-powered e-reader with Barnes & Noble integration. This is somewhat of a surprise, the Novel is a direct competitor with Barnes & Noble’s own eReader. It has a 7 inch display with Wi-Fi and multimedia capabilities. It looks similar to the iPad but this has a sleek white bezel and features 800×600 resolution.
Specifications:
* Operating system: Android (ARM 11 processor)
* 7-inch touch-screen TFT color display (800×600 resolution)
* Weight: 16 ounces
* Integrated Barnes & Noble eBookstore
* WiFi enabled
* 1 GB internal memory with SD/MMC slot (up to 32GB cards supported)
* Automatically adjusts between portrait and landscape mode when the device is tilted
* eBook formats supported included PDF, EPUB, and HTML
* Adjustable font sizes, built-in dictionary, highlights and notes
* Built-in Web browser, email, alarm clock, and clalendar
* Plays back music (MP3), displays images and certain video file formats
* Built-in mini-USB port for transferring files from computer (Mac and PC compatible)
Barnes & Noble will also allow the Pandigital Novel to use their LendMe feature. This allows users to share their eBook content with their friends for 14 days. If you’re in the market for a good eReader that has a built-in Web browser, email, calendar, and alarm then the Novel be a perfect fit for you. And it will not break the bank if you’re on a budget.

I bought the white one,unlike some saying its junk its actually cheap(got it for 139.00)for what it can do.I did intstall the android sdk no problem,and no problem reverting back to original factory state no problems.if reading gaming guides in pdfs or stuff with pics that are to small ,convert to jpeg and read that way with zoom.If it had a writing notepad program it would be great as it is,better than using small phone screens and carrying your laptop around.internal memory upgrades too.Price is right if you cant afford an ipad
Help! I installed Android upgrade (OP_S20-09-30B-PD-INX7E-ENG-6410POP.zip) and lost my Adobe eReader. Unlike you, I was unable to revert back to original factory state! Can you possibly share with me how you did that? I’d be FOREVER in your debt. Thank you. You may reach be directly at jsluga at comcast dot net.
