HTC’s EVO 4G smartphone has been rooted – before the handset is even in Sprint stores. A couple of keen Android developers – one of whom was given an EVO 4G as part of Google IO last week – have put their heads together and cracked open the WiMAX handset in record time.
In fact it took the three of them just a few hours to gain access to the open-source device’s low level functionality. Unfortunately they’re not sharing details of the exploit as yet, but we imagine that once the EVO 4G is generally available it won’t be long before we start seeing hacks and modifications.
