Could this be what we have been waiting for? We had heard that Samsung may release the 2GHz Exynos 5250 processor sometime during Q2 of this year, but could it also be flaunted at this Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month? It makes perfect sense that it would, because it still follows the chip’s estimated public release date.
A 2GHz chip could change everything, especially when it is said to nearly double the performance of the current ones out there. Even more, the graphical rendering could improve by up to 4X!. NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor is a powerhouse, but something in me is saying this one will put it to shame.
The tablet is said to have a display larger than the standard 10.1-inchers out there, and considering how the Exynos 5250 supports pixel resolutions of up to 2560×1600 – it makes perfect sense. It’s hard to tell what kind of battery life a tablet with such a large display will have, especially while clocked at 2GHz.

Of course a potential Mali T604 will put the Tegra3 to shame. That’s around 68GFLOPS to Nvidias ~7 with a whole lot more optimizations under the hood (eg. unified shaders/ heterogeneous compute/advanced TBDR/small die/dual-channel memory). Even the Mali 400 MP holds its own against the Tegra 3, and I’m sure that with specifically optimized games it would actually perform better in a great number of cases.
The Tegra is quite a disappointing GPU given its timing. I’m sure that in the future it will improve, but currently it is around 8 months behind the competition.
What the Tegra has is far superior marketing, and a company willing to show off its strengths.
Also, Cortex A15 takes the CPU to the level of a Core2Duo chip at 2GHz frequencies.
Give me an Exynos 5250 any day of the week.
If anyone can challenge the iPad, it is Samsung. Samsung is an impressive company and its Android smartphones are conquering the U.S. market.
This would possibly be the ONLY thing that would make me regret buying my Galaxy Note, either this or a Quad-Core Exynos. Other than that I, as every user of Galaxy Note owner could NEVER go back to anything less than the 5.3″ beast I caress in my hand as I write this.
Unless that is my wife’s superb 38DD’s. Yes there IS a Heaven – I know for a fact cuz I’m there right now unless the 5250 gets released or I release her itits – whichever comes first.
