Panasonic has announced a pair of new tablets that are aimed at the business user. The tablets are for the Japanese market and the two models differ in screen size. The BizPad JT-580VT has a 7-inch screen and the BizPad JT-581VT packs a 10.1-inch screen. The tablets both run on the Android 3.2 platform. The tablets are also similar in that they are ruggedized for longevity with rough users.

The tablets are resistant to shock, dust, and water. The 10.1-inch tablet is able to survive drops of 80cm and the 7.1-inch unit is able to survive 120cm drops. Other common features include a NFC reader, user replicable battery, Bluetooth, USB, GPS and a microSD card slot for storage. The processor for both versions of the tablet is an ARM Cortex A9 dual-core.

The other hardware features include 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The screen resolution for the 7.1-inch model is 1024 x 600 and 3G is optional. It has a 5MP camera, WiFi, and will hit stores in December. The 10.1-inch tablet has a resolution of 1280 x 800 and a 1.3MP camera and WiFi and will land in January. Pricing hasn’t been announced, I would expect these tablets to be more than the competition thanks to the rugged features.
