The entry-level HTC Tattoo has arrived on our test-bench, and over at SlashGear we’ve been putting together some first-impressions and the customary unboxing video.  HTC’s latest smartphone may have a lower sticker price than its bigger brothers, but it still gets the HTC Sense UI, 3G HSPA, WiFi b/g and GPS.

However the touchscreen uses a resistive panel, while the display itself is smaller than the HTC Android devices we’ve seen to-date: 2.8-inches and running at QVGA 240 x 320 resolution instead of 3.2-inches.  We’ll be testing out the responsiveness of the resistive panel, together with seeing how cramped the on-screen keyboard gets when you shave off the screen real-estate.

One bonus is that the Tattoo feels pretty swift, running Android 1.6 and the standard Qualcomm CPU so far keeping up with page refreshes, homescreen navigation and all the other things that led some to label the Hero “laggy”.  Check out the full first-impressions and a live gallery over at SlashGear.
