While most eyes will be on the upcoming new flagship smartphones from Samsung, their Unpacked event happening on February 20 might also bring other devices. One of the rumored announcements would be their new smartwatch, the Galaxy Sport Watch which has been codenamed “Pulse”. A new render of the upcoming smartwatch confirms some of the strongest rumors about the device, which includes the no more rotating bezel design. We only have a couple of weeks more to confirm if these renders are really that accurate.
Tiger Mobile likes doing these kinds of renders for upcoming devices and just like the previous ones, they have based these new ones of the Galaxy Sport on reliable sources. They look pretty different from the Galaxy Gear that’s why some have trouble believing it, but they also confirm what we’ve been hearing about the devices. The renders show the Galaxy Sport in three colors: black, teal blue, and pink gold.
The most obvious difference is that we don’t see the rotating bezel which was a main design point in the Gear watch. This time around we get two recessed side buttons which are more subtle, if that’s your kind of thing. This might also mean that we’ll be seeing some changes to the Tizen OS since we’ll have new controls from those two buttons.
The other thing that’s significant about the renders is that there seems to be no ECG and we see just the regular heart rate monitor. When the codename for the Galaxy Sport was revealed to be Pulse, people were expecting that it would have what the Apple Watch would have. But unless Samsung pulls off a surprise on the 20th, it looks like we won’t be seeing that soon.
The Galaxy Sport is also expected to be the first Samsung smartwatch to have the Bixby Reminders feature. It will also supposedly have 4GB of internal storage and will have WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Let’s see at the Unpacked Event how accurate the renders are.
