When you’re chatting with a colleague or a friend, there are times when you want to share large files saved in your cloud with them, so you’ll have to open the app, look for the file, copy the link, making you switch back and forth. But if you’re using both Skype and OneDrive, that process is now made easier, especially since they’re both owned by Microsoft anyway. Skype now has OneDrive integration so that file sharing and collaboration should be seamless.
The Microsoft account that you used when you signed up for your Skype account has to be the same account of your OneDrive so this integration will work. The files, or rather your OneDrive account can be found under the Content and tools panel. When you’re chatting with someone, tap on the + Add-ins button and then from the panel, choose OneDrive. Just tap on the file that you want and then tap on Send so that it will be shared in your chat.
This will make it easier for you to share Office documents, PDFs, large images, etc. In fact, OneDrive supports more than 300 file types. If your contact is on their phone or tablet and they have OneDrive installed there, it will open directly on the app. If they haven’t installed it yet, it will open on the OneDrive website. If they’re on a desktop, the file will open in the browser.
The update should be rolling out to all Skype users. Check if you’re running the latest version and if not, just wait for the update to come to you so you can file share more easily.
