Last year, Verizon introduced a nifty new plan called Visible which lets you have a month-on-month service without having to go to any of their stores. However, it was a by-invite only process and only those with iOS devices could sign up. The good news is that finally the service isn’t by invite anymore and is coming to Android. However, the bad news is that you will be able to sign up only if you have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
Visible is an entirely app-based subscription service. This means you can sign up for its single plan through the app itself, which right now can only be installed and used on supported devices. For $40 a month, you get unlimited text, talk, and data. Once you sign up, you’re not bound to any long-term contract so if you feel like you don’t need to sign up the month after, then you just discontinue.
However, the word “unlimited” comes with caveats of course. Your data actually is only up to 5MBPs but you can hotspot your device as well, although how fast it will be is debatable. Video can only stream up to 480p but if you’re okay with streaming up to that quality only, then this is still a pretty good plan to have. And at least you won’t be stuck for a few years if you realize you don’t like it.
Verizon has also partnered with Affirm so they can offer financing if you want new devices, again limited to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ (and iPhones, if you swing that way). There will be additional charges of course to your monthly fees but in case you need a Verizon-compatible phone, at least you can get one now. Hopefully, they will add support for more Android devices soon.
