If you received a notification on your smartwatch that there was an OS update available, you might be forgiven for thinking that you were finally getting the battery-focused Wear OS 2.2 H that they were promising previously. But even as that particular update is still rolling out to selected devices, some users have reported seeing a Wear OS 2.3 update, which is an altogether different thing. But as to what changes this newer update brings, don’t expect too much as there seems to be not much difference.

The Wear OS 2.3 update supposedly comes with a Home app update (from 2.20 to 2.21) that should bring you a more intuitive and efficient design. There is also mention of improved health coaching and more proactive help from Google Assistant, but there doesn’t seem to be much details about either and the changes aren’t that noticeable either.

Based on a reddit thread, the update seems to have rolled out already to devices like the Montblanc Summit 2, Fossil Sport, and Ticwatch Sport. Everyone seems to be in agreement that there are no substantial changes or improvements that can be seen, although there may be the usual bug fixes that are almost always invisible to the naked (or untrained) eye.

As for the Wear OS 2.2 H update that was announced back in November, it’s still apparently rolling out although as they previously said, it may not be available for all watches. The update is more battery-focused which is always welcome especially for heavy device users. The changelog says it will bring battery saver mode updates, better body efficiency, a smart app resume, and two-step power off.
