While some consider Samsung Pay to be one of the best mobile payment platforms around, there are also those who are getting extremely annoyed that one of the background apps that helps it out is causing massive battery drain. The Samsung Pay Framework app is pre-installed and is the main culprit if you suddenly run out of juice even when you’re not using your Galaxy device a lot. There is a stop-gap solution for now but it will still be better if Samsung itself will solve the problem for us.

Samsung Pay works with almost all retailers since not only does it support NFC-enabled stores, it can also work with those that accepts credit cards since the platform also supports Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). However, there are a lot of Galaxy phone users that are complaining on reddit and various posts and threads, saying that this app causes as much as 60% drainage in just under two hours.

While Samsung hasn’t responded yet to any of the complaints, some users have found work-arounds to save your phone’s battery life. One way is to toggle the battery optimization feature of your device by going to Settings > Apps > Samsung Pay-Samsung Pay Framework > Battery and then switching to “Not Optimized”. Some say it reduces the drain to just 40% after less than two hours of using your phone.

Another way is to force stop the app which has led to a reduced drain of 30% in just two hours of screen time. It’s still not a perfect solution either way but at least you won’t have to constantly charge your device or rely on a powerbank. Samsung still needs to give us a software update to fix this app and battery issue.
