Huawei isn’t trying to be everything but it certainly wants to join the gaming industry. Ever since some OEMs started to come up with their own gaming-centric smartphones, Huawei also planned on releasing its own version. After the Razer Phone, ASUS ROG Phone, and the Xiaomi Black Shark, here’s Huawei with the Honor Play. It’s a new smartphone that comes with premium specs, promising fast performance all the time. This gaming phone is fast with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, Huawei Kirin 970 processor, GPU Turbo, and NPU.
The Honor Play just launched in China but we’re crossing our fingers it will reach other markets soon. Don’t expect the United States because of some issues but there are still many places to get one. Another impressive component of the Honor Play is the GPU Turbo that enhances graphic processing. It will be ready for the latest Huawei phone and we’re assuming future phones from the top Chinese OEM.
Huawei revealed the Honor Play in Beijing with about 60% increase in graphics processing. The GPU Turbo technology is what makes this device super fast. There are several games that require high graphics processing so this chipset will help. It may also deliver lower power consumption, HDR-like game effects, and an overall luxury gaming experience.
Huawei launched the Honor Play in China together with the Honor 9i (2018). You can get the Honor Play in two variants– 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB memory–for only 1,999 Yuan ($313) and 2,399 Yuan ($375), respectively. Color options include Nebula Violet, Magic Night Black, and Aurora Blue.
More good news, current Huawei devices will be updated with GPU Turbo tech to improve graphics processing efficiency.
