Netflix doesn’t make a huge announcement whenever they add new mobile devices that have support for high-dynamic range imaging or HDR. This is probably because they are just ever slowly adding smartphones and tablets, not through any fault of their own but because there are limitations to the suitable display available in devices right now. The number is still very small, but at least you get to add three more to that short list with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, and the Sony Xperia XZ2.
The three new devices where you can watch Netflix on HDR were quietly added to the list which now totals a grand number of 10. As stated earlier, HDR support needs high-resolution and high-specs display, so not all devices are capable of it. Also, not all shows and movies on Netflix are on HDR, but having the option to watch them in that “director’s vision” format is of course a bonus for subscribers, if they have the right device.
Netflix already has one of the biggest libraries of HDR content right now although you would also have to be a premium subscriber to have access to them. They have categorized all the shows and movies that are in the format, and most of their new, original releases already have HDR support so there’s that. You have the option to watch on your smart TV (provided it supports the format of course) or the 10 mobile devices that are on Netflix’s list.
