A new Huawei Watch will launch this year. We have no idea when exactly but we noted back in March that the top Chinese OEM is already working on one but may be delayed. We earlier thought the company isn’t in a hurry to launch a new wearable but looks like there is some progress. Master leakster Evan Blass said launch may be closer but interestingly, his message has since been deleted. Well, it was really more for a Huawei Watch 2 2018 version and note exactly Huawei Watch 3. That may be different and so we’re still not sure when the Huawei Watch 3 will be ready.
The 2018 model is an obvious upgrade of the Huawei Watch 2. That is, if the said device is indeed launching. We’re not expecting a major change in design and specs–only with some improvements on the specs. This may already run on Wear OS, 768MB RAM, 4GB onboard storage, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 chipset. The watch will also have a 1.2-inch AMOLED screen with 390 x 390 resolution (326ppi), built-in GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and new eSim support. The device only boasts of IP68 water-resistance so it can’t stay underwater for long.
The usual sensors can be found as well: ambient light sensor, accelerometer, optical heart rate sensor, and barometer. Two sensors may be added: a capacitance sensor to check humidity and geomagnetic sensor to help in tracking outdoors.
There is still no information on release and pricing but we know it won’t be far from the Huawei Watch 2 cost.
