Lenovo is not only busy with the Motorola division when it comes to mobile devices. The company is also working on marketing its own branded smartphones, as well as, ZUK. In case you didn’t know, Lenovo is the Chinese OEM’s parent company which makes Lenovo having more chances to make it bigger not only in the Chinese mobile industry but also in the global market.
The ZUK Edge is the latest smartphone from the less than two year old phone manufacturer. It’s something we’ve been anticipating for especially since it was spotted on AnTuTu last month. ZUK has also been aggressive in rolling out new products having already released three phones this 2016. We thought the ZUK Edge would be announced earlier in the first week December but it’s only now that the company is unveiling the new phone.
The ZUK Edge comes equipped with a 5.5-inch display topped by a 2.5D curved glass screen, Snapdragon 821 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, 64GB UFS 2.0 onboard storage, 4GB/6GB RAM, 1500:1 contrast ratio, fingerprint sensor, and 13MP rear camera (with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture plus LED flash). The Android smartphone also features a heart rate sensor, Dirac HD Sound, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFI, and 4G VoLTE. The ZUK Edge’s internal battery is 3100mAh and already supports Quick Charge 3.0 so you can have extra juice within a few minutes.
Making this more impressive is the hidden fingerprint recognition technology. It’s not obvious as it is embedded on the screen but it’s reliable and weather-resistant enough. Mobile security and authentication are important these days and fingerprint scanners can already be considered a standard.
Price is set at around 2299 CNY for the 4GB RAM model and 2499 CNY for the 6GB RAM version. That’s about $330 and $360, respectively. The ZUK Edge will be available beginning January 1 in Titanium Black and Ceramic White.
