If you’ve gotten used to Microsoft Translator being your guide to conversing with people in other languages, then you’ll be pleased to know that you need not keep copy pasting the translations into whatever messaging app you’re using. You can actually now have conversations on the app and on the browser version and it will automatically translate whatever you’re saying into whatever language it needs to be translated to, in real time. All you need is to have a smartphone and the app itself, or view it through the website.
While of course the best thing would be to actually learn the language of the people you talk most to, whether for business or for personal reasons, it takes time and even more effort to do so. So the next best thing would be to use an app, specifically one that can translate in real time. Microsoft already had this technology which they used on Skype and so now they are applying the real time translation technology to the language translation app, naturally.
To start a conversation, one person must choose a conversation code and then type in their name and own language. You then send the code to whomever you want to join the conversation. It works for both one-on-one and group conversations as well. Once those who are meant to join the chat are there already, they can also start typing in messages or speaking it to the app, in their own language and see the “magic” work.
If you have the Microsoft Translator app installed on your smartphone or tablet, you can now update the app to be able to use the real-time translation conversations. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it from the Google Play Store for free of course.
