The famous Nova Launcher is turning a year older. This old app launcher is celebrating its fifth year with a very important update. Nova Launcher 5.0 brings a lot of new features and enhancements to the app launcher including a new style search bar ala Pixel phone, a new search view with tabs (for Frequent, Recent, and New), a new ‘Timeout’ screen lock method, and new double-tap-swipe gestures.
The Android app launcher also now allows the user to swipe to open the app drawer similar to how it is with the Pixel Launcher. You may also notice the launcher shortcuts for Android 7.1 Nougat. To make things easier, you can also draw under the nav bar by docking those backgrounds. To change major settings, you can use the Android launcher to quick start them.
The updated version of the Nova Launcher app was recently released from beta mode so it may take a while before it is available for official public release. Been using that swipe up for apps since day one of Nova launcher. I’m surprised no other manufacturer using android used it before the pixel or before a launcher
