The Sony Xperia X Performance has joined the Beta Program for Android Nougat so expect the phone to be the first ever Sony device to receive Android 7.0. It’s only now that we’re learning that the phone is now eligible for the software update. Don’t worry if you have models other than the X Performance because this means your phones will be next.
The Nougat version for the Xperia X Performance(F8131) is specifically the 39.2.A.0.327 firmware. It’s also ready for the X Performance Dual (F8132) version. We’re not certain what regions will get it first but it’s definitely out there. Some XDA members have proven this and even said that it’s only the beta program. The two screenshots above were shared within the thread.
Not much information was given but someone noticed the Xperia keyboard more fluid compared to SwiftKey. Another one said that WiFi connection gets sluggish at times especially after waking up the device from sleep.
Some Android 7.0 Nougat features we can expect the Sony Xperia X Performance to receive include the ‘double-tap’ and ‘lift to check phone’ gestures, more emoji, security fixes, and app shortcuts. The Android Nougat software also allows changing the display size, direct reply from notifications, and some Always On Display enhancements.
