If you think there hasn’t been enough hype for the upcoming movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, then you better brace yourself for the next few days as we will probably be overrun with all the digital and real-life marketing push for the film. If you live in Japan and you’re a die-hard fan, then you’d want to get hold of this new Star Wars-themed smartphone that is being released by mobile carrier SoftBank.
Simply called the Star Wars Mobile phones, they are being manufactured by Sharp and the specs aren’t really something to sing home about, although they’re pretty decent. It has a 5.3-inch 1080p display powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor. It has 3GB RAM and a 32GB internal storage, expandable through a microSD card. It has an impressive sounding 22.6 MP camera while you’ll get 3000mAh battery power.
But of course, the reason you’ll probably be getting this smartphone is because of all the Star Wars-related goodies that will come with it. First off, you get to choose if you’re with the Dark Side or the Light Side. You get live wallpapers that put you in the cockpit of either an X-Wing or a TIE fighter. You also get “excessive” Android 6.0 skins in either themes, a Star Wars-themed alarm clock, emojis, and ringtones. You also get a Star Wars movie player app where you can watch The Force Awakens over and over until 2020. Well, that is, if you live in Japan.
If you like to play card games, you get the Star Wars: Force Collection game pre-loaded on the phone and you even get a code or the gold card pack ticket. You also get five exclusive metal figurines from Rogue One. The Star Wars phones will start to go on sale by December 2, but you can already start pre-ordering. The price however isn’t indicated on the official website.
