In a recent interview with Bloomberg TV, BlackBerry chief John Chen was heard confirming that the smartphone pioneer is releasing a new keyboard phone. This is good news for those people who still cannot give up their brick BlackBerry devices. Yup, we still know people who don’t want to ditch their BlackBerry phones. We’re assuming the new keyboard phone will be another Android-powered phone that’s manufactured by another OEM.

John Chen was quoted saying “We have one keyboard phone I promised people”. “It’s coming,” he further said. That means it’s not just a concept phone or a blank promise but a new device is being prepped for release very soon. As to when, we can only hope that it will be out before year 2016 ends.

BlackBerry’s numbers have yet to improve but we’re not sure if the DTEK50 and DTEK60 are helping. Hopefully, this keyboard phone will be another game changer. The last hardware related information we heard was the rumored BlackBerry Mercury whose specs appeared on Geekbench–3GB RAM and a 2.02GHz Qualcomm octa-core processor. There’s also the idea that the fingerprint sensor will be integrated into the space bar. We’ll wait and see if this keyboard phone becomes a reality.
