With incidents of stolen phones and hacked accounts becoming pretty commonplace, two-step verification seems to have become a must-have for some apps, especially those that may contain sensitive information and conversations. Popular messaging app is the latest one to add this process to their app, although for now, it’s still only available in their beta version. The update also brings users the option to listen to their voice messages even when doing other things on their phone.
If you’re in the beta program of WhatsApp, go ahead and update your app. Afterwards, head on over to the settings, and enable the two-step verification option. It will then bring you to a screen that will explain to you what it is exactly, just in case you didn’t know it yet but it just sounded cool so you choose to enable it. The first step after that would be to enter a 6 digit passcode which you’ll have to input whoever you will register your phone number with a WhatsApp account. In case you forget the passcode, you’ll have to give them an email address that will be used to reset your account.
The update will also now let you listen to your voice messages from WhatsApp even if you leave the app and do something else on another app, like browse your social media or go to a different conversation. The only condition is that your screen will not turn off while the message is playing. What’s missing now though is the ability to stream videos in the app without having to download them. They might have removed the feature or just made it available for selected users.
You can update the WhatsApp beta to enjoy these new features or download the APK. If you’re not yet part of the beta program, all you have to do is download the beta app from the Google Play Store.
