Aside from Verizon Wireless, AT&T is also set to release an important software update for the BlackBerry PRIV. It’s not a major one but only a minor release for a particular bug that’s been annoying Priv owners for some time now. AT&T has just announced a fix that removes the ‘No Service’ issue. This is something AT&T Priv owners have been waiting for which wasn’t part of the November update.
We mentioned that BlackBerry and AT&T teamed up to release a quick fix for the bug on Priv and it’s finally here. This version of the software specifically installs the BlackBerry “No Service” Prevention Tool. To do this, make sure you enable Unknown Sources found under Settings> Security> Device administration.
Right on Chrome, choose ‘Update Permissions’ then ‘Allow’ when the prompt “Chrome needs storage access to download files” appears. Choose ‘OK’ again when the message “This type of file can harm your device. Do you want to keep LteCaBugfix.apk anyway?” appears. After finishing the download, choose the LteCaBugfix.apk file you see on the Notification shade and then click on the ‘Downloads’ icon you see from the App Drawer. And then select the apk file> Install> Open> Select “I accept BlackBerry Solution License Agreement.” and then Enable “No Service” Prevention.
Once you see the BlackBerry “No Service” Prevention Tool, uninstall it and then quickly disable the installation from Unknown Sources.
