After several leaks and teasers, OPPO has officially took the wraps off the new R9s and R9s Plus. The Chinese OEM has rolled out these two as follow-up to the R9 and R9 Plus launched earlier this year. The design and build are similar to the original duo but obviously, the R9s and R9s Plus have enhancements including the rear cameras with Sony’s IMX398 sensor.

The previous 13MP main cameras are now upgraded to 16MP. The back camera remains the same at 16MP. The two cameras both have f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic image stabilization (EIS), LED flash, and 4K video capture support.

The Oppo R9s PLUS comes equipped with a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 653, 6GB RAM, 64GB built-in storage, microSD card slot, and a 4000mAh battery. Phone is impressive with a 79% screen-to-body ratio and small 1.78mm side bezels.

On the other hand, the Oppo R9s features a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution, 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5, Snapdragon 625, Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, hybrid dual-SIM slot, fingerprint scanner, and a smaller 3010mAh battery.

Both smartphones run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow topped by Color OS 3.0, and features VOOC fast charge. The fast charging delivers two hours of battery life within five minutes only.

OPPO R9s will be ready next week beginning on October 28 with a CNY 2,799 price tag. That’s about $415 in the US. The bigger R9s Plus will be CNY 3,499 ($519) when it becomes available sometime in December. Color options include Rose Gold, Gold, and Black.
