ZUK is Lenovo’s spin-off smartphone brand launched just last year. So far, they’ve already released two phones in 2016, the Z2 and Z2 Pro while their first, the Z1, was released last year. But it seems they may be releasing a 3rd phone this year (or maybe their first for 2017) as a new device was spotted on TENAA, a Chinese telecoms equipment certification website. The new phone, still unnamed for now, goes back to a bigger screen and has of course improved on the specs of the two previous models.
Based on the information seen on the site, the new ZUK phone will have a 5.5-inch 1080p display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 2.35GHz chip. It will have 4GB RAM while for the internal storage, users will have an option of 32GB or 64GB variants. In the camera department, it will have a 13MP rear-facing camera that protrudes just a little. Now as to why it’s designed that way, we have no idea yet. The front-facing camera will have an 8MP shooter.
The phone will only have a 3000mAh battery, which may be kind of disappointing as it is the ZUK phone with the smallest battery. Maybe they have a trick up their sleeve, like the power consumption of the processor is better or something like that. But as it is, it’s a bit off to lower the battery capacity, especially when you have a bigger screen than the Z2 with it’s 3500mAh battery or the Z2 Pro with its 3100mAh one.
The ZUK phone will have Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, not Nougat. It is just 7.68mm thick and weighs 106 grams. We don’t know yet the price range of this one, but expect it to be in the mid-range category. Let’s wait for more news and whether it will be released this 2016 or early 2017.
