It’s not yet official but the BlackBerry DTEK60 has been placed for pre-order on B&H Photo. It’s the unlocked version of the Android BlackBerry device, listed with a $499.99 price tag. This only means the Canadian smartphone pioneer will be launching the new BlackBerry very soon. We’re guessing next week or just a few days from now because it has already visited the FCC and the WiFi Alliance for certification.
A few renders were leaked a couple of weeks ago, leading us to believe it’s another repackaged Alcatel phone, particularly the Alcatel Idol 4S.
The BlackBerry DTEK60 is definitely cheaper than the PRIV. As a follow-up to the mid-range DTEK50, this new BlackBerry smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED Touchscreen Display, 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution, 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, 1.6 GHz and 2.15 GHz Dual-Core processor, GSM, 4G LTE connectivity, microSDXC Memory Card Slot, USB-C Fingerprint sensor, and a 3000mAh battery.
This BlackBerry smartphone aka Argon is expected to feature the BlackBerry Convenience Key and BlackBerry Productivity & Security Suite. It’s powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow already (no Nougat yet). The North American variant from B&H is said to come with a Soft Shell Case and a RC-1500NA Rapid Travel Charger from BlackBerry.
The B&H listing does not mention any shipment or delivery date but a previous report said it would be October 11. Well, nothing yet so we’re crossing our fingers for a possible October 17 launch date.
