It’s been a long wait, but we’re glad to confirm that it is finally here – the one that OnePlus X users and owners have been waiting for: the OxygenOS update that brings the smartphone to Android Marshmallow. The wait has been such that the next version, Android Nougat, has already launched before the OnePlus X got its update. But it’s here now.

The OxygenOS 3.1.3 update for the OnePlus X contains the much awaited bump up to Android 6.0. It also contains some significant changes in the launcher, with new icons, customization for the Google search bar UI, and a new wallpaper picker. Another big plus is that it contains the October security patches from Google as well.

This update is a result of all the feedback and data OnePlus received from the OnePlus X community builds. Those are basically test versions of the software where OnePlus tested out some features and allowed the community to say their piece about the said features. Now this update is a consolidation of all the comments and suggestions they received during that period of time.

The update is rolling out over the air (OTA), and it is incremental, as per usual. You may need to wait just a little bit for the notification to arrive on your phone. If you’re a bit impatient, go ahead and tap on the “update” section in your phone’s settings.
