If you’ve been relying on the Hopper app to give you the best deals when you’re looking for cheap flights, then you’ll probably love their newest feature. The Watch Filter lets you customize even more what it is you’re looking for when traveling for business or pleasure. It will also let Hopper tell you whether to buy the recommended flight now or wait until a better deal will come and then tell you when that deal will actually come.

It actually took them a year to develop this Watch Filter feature since it involves a bit of “complicated data science” and they say that they may be the first forecasting company that are making predictions that are this “granular”. The filter lets you set flight preferences, like removing stops if you want a direct flight (which is of course more expensive), long layovers, and basic fares. Just set your destination and travel dates first and then choose your filters so you can let Hopper know what kind of flights you want.

The app will then let you know the price prediction based on your parameters. It will tell you if you should wait to buy and so if that’s the case, you should tap the “watch this trip” button and then they will send you an alert in case there is already a good enough deal for you to book. Because of the work they’ve put into this feature, they’ve also come across interesting facts like 2/3 of domestic trips have non-stop flights or that they are 21% more expensive than those with stops. Basic fares of course will save you 16% on airfare but there may also be additional fees for baggage, seat selection, food, etc.

The Watch Filters for Hopper are now available for Android devices. Just update your Hopper app from the Google Play page.
