If you or your company constantly accesses various team websites or intranet sites and office-related documents while you’re mobile, then you probably use a lot of various programs and apps just so you will be able to work properly. Microsoft introduced the SharePoint app earlier this year to help manage that situation but it was only available on iOS devices. But now it seems they’re testing it out for Android devices as they have released the beta version of the app.
The SharePoint for Android app lets you manage all the sites that you need to access, including team websites, intranet portals, etc plus some other added features you need for productivity. It’s divided into three main sections: Sites, Links, People. Sites brings you to your sites, Recent Sites, and Followed Sites while the Links tab is for the sites and portals that are programmed for everyone in the company. The People tab gives you access to your colleagues so you can also see what they’re working on.
You will also be able to access your document libraries since you will now be able to integrate your OneDrive with the app. Using your Office Mobile suite, you’ll be able to access and edit your Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote files. The app also has a search system that is filtered by sites, files, and people. You can also sign up with multiple accounts and switch between them seamlessly.
You can download the Microsoft SharePoint app for Android from the Google Play Store for free. But of course your company needs to be subscribed to Office 365, including SharePoint Online. This is also an unreleased version, so expect things not to work perfectly for now.
