BlackBerry is very much busy these days updating its Android-powered devices. The BlackBerry PRIV and the DTEK50 may soon be joined by the DTEK60 according to recent rumors. While waiting for the new model, the Canadian smartphone pioneer is working on software updates to ensure the Android phones remain private, safe, and secure. Of all the Android OEMs, it’s only BlackBerry who sends out monthly releases.
We don’t know much about the old BlackBerry phones but there are people who still use them. Yes, they’re a rare, drying breed but now that more affordable BlackBerry phones are entering the market, we can expect the loyal fans to support the new devices. Before Android came into the picture, there’s the BlackBerry Passport as an experimental phone able to run some apps. It’s not exactly a popular phone but it has caught the mobile industry’s attention with its unique form.
There’s a rumor that the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition is able to run Android. How true is that? We’re not sure but some images surfaced online. Apparently, this Android-powered BlackBerry Passport is available and someone who works at BlackBerry is selling the phone for $260(CAD). That’s affordable for a BlackBerry smartphone but of course, it’s not an official offer. It’s more like a novelty now, if and when the rumor is true.
Not much information have been given but the image above is one proof. For all we know, it can be just a screenshot of another Android device. Will there be a new BlackBerry Passport variant powered by Android? We’re not sure but this one here looks tempting, at least, for the BlackBerry fans.
