The ZenPad S 8.0 is finally getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The software update is now ready for the Z580CA and Z580C models of the ASUS tablet series. We haven’t been hearing about such releases for ASUS devices but don’t worry, the ZenPad S 8.0 tablet is now ready for some Marshmallow goodness.
A few things to remember here, the software update won’t roll out automatically or over-the-air. No, you won’t receive any OTA notification. You need to check on your own if the software is ready for download.
ASUS noted that some apps will not be pre-installed on the Android 6.0 version. Just download any of the following if you still wish to use them: Clean Master, Data Transfer, Dr. Booster, Dr. Safety, Free Games, Game Center (TW SKU Only), iReader, Mirror, Omlet, PC Link, PhotoFrame, Puffin Browser, Remote Link, TripAdvisor, What’s next, Yahoo Shopping, ZenCircle, Zinio.
Some apps will also be removed: Asus Email, Asus Calendar, ASUS Music, and ASUS Browser. Replace them with Gmail, Google Play Music, Google Calendar, and Chrome for relevant services. Other improvements include Power Saver and Auto-Start Manager integration with ASUS Mobile Manager, Singapore time zone, and ZenPad Care support.
ASUS said that there are some steps you need to do before you can install Android 6.0. Make sure you follow each and every instruction. First, you need to backup your data and move files to an SD card. You need enough storage before the software update will begin. It’s highly recommended that the device has more than 50% of battery–better if tablet is plugged in. Move apps to an internal storage because Marshmallow will not support APP2SD. Keep account to continue usage as the platform won’t support multi-user function.
