In a bid to compete with music streaming giants like Spotify and Apple Music, Deezer has teamed up with Twitter to let you share tracks from within the app and let users hear snippets of the song from within their Twitter timeline. This audio card integration is something that the two aforementioned rivals have been doing as well, but Deezer now has to do it to enable them to actually be a good alternative for those who don’t want to use the most popular ones.
When you share a track from the Deezer app to your Twitter, people who follow you will see an audio card on their Twitter feed. They will be able to listen to the song if they’re curious; well, at least just 30 seconds of the song. If they press the shortcut underneath the card, that means they want to hear more of the song and so they will be redirected to the Deezer app where the user can listen to the whole song.
While Deezer is pretty popular in certain regions, it has yet to establish a sufficient subscriber base in the US. And while their rivals are already going into other directions like music video streaming, this app focuses on podcasts and high-res streaming. But it also needs to prove itself worthy for users to turn their back on their current or previous music streaming service and that is by offering the same services that they do and then adding something extra in the mix.
You don’t need to update anything to be able to use this new feature. Just go to your Deezer app so you can start sharing with the world what your current tunes are. Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer for Deezer, Golan Shaked, said that this is just the first of many features they will be adding soon as they try to grow a base in North America.
