Being found in the Geekbench benchmark test means that a device is about to be announced. After over three years, the new Geekbench 4 tool is now ready for the macOS, Linux, and Windows. Of course, it’s also ready to download straight from the App Store and Google Play Store.
It’s about time Geekbench releases a major update because the last one was designed for older phone models. You see, a lot has changed in the entire mobile industry since then. Hardware and performance are very much different these days.
Geekbench 3 was mainly for the average smartphone years ago. That’s with a minimum of only 512MB RAM which is now very low.
This time, a standard smartphone has atleast 2GB RAM and a 64-bit processor. Believe it or not, some mobile phones today are even more powerful than other laptops and desktops.
Included in the new Geekbench 4 are new and updated CPU workloads that are bigger than those in the previous version. This means more codebases are also added and updated. Also included are new GPU Compute workloads.
You’ll also notice the redesigned interface of the Android version with some Material Design elements. As a special launch promo, Geekbench 4 licenses are currently available with a 20% discount until the 13th of September from Primate Labs Store.
