Over the last year or so Aircell has become one of the leading providers of in flight web connectivity for commercial jets and has offerings for private business jets as well. The company has announced a new product that is specifically for private business jets called the Aircell Smartphone. The device is described as the next-generation cabin headset for business jets.
The device promises to provide the best voice quality in aviation with all sorts of high-end embedded tech. The smartphone has been designed specifically for use on aircraft and has a big 3.8-inch touchscreen with full color. It runs the Android OS and is Bluetooth compatible for hands free operation. The design allows the phone to be wired or wireless.
Aircell claims the device is so easy to use no instruction manual is required and it is a drop-in replacement for current Aircell Axxess flush-mount handsets. It also has an integrated jack for wired headsets and earbuds. The new device is also compatible with the coming Gogo Biz voice service and shipping is set for late 2011 with pricing announced at that time. It’s not clear what version of Android the phone uses.
