People are ditching their cable television subscriptions, and choosing inexpensive online streaming services instead. 1. Don’t sign up for this service, it’s a scam. All they do is give you a launcher for $3 a month that sends you other free services or gives you a link to where you can buy/rent shows. You don’t actually get any value for what you pay.

    • “Scam” might be a little too harsh a word here. I agree this article might be a little unclear as to what exactly you get, but if you go to their website they don’t appear to be misleading at all. As they say, “The SelectTV eMedia guide searches, updates, organizes, and manages over 2 million video links every day, so you can spend less time searching and more time watching”. Which is exactly what it does. Also the subscription is apparently for both Web subscription and the mobile apps (not just the app).

Anyway, not going to say I love the service or anything (seems worth the price for someone who have a hard time finding stuff), but people throw around the word “scam” a little too easily these days, and I just wanted to put in my two cents. Maybe do a little research next time before spending 50 bucks. Just a suggestion.

  2. Thanks for the tip. Just signed up for 1 year and checked out the web service, pretty cool. Basically they pull in all of the shows/movies/etc from around the web into one place for easy access, so instead of having to jump from site to site you can just browse/search it all in one place. Having a decent experience with the app so far too, similar concept but links you out to apps instead of websites.

Based on comments below some people may have been expecting something different, but for a dollar or two a month I think it’s definitely worth it if you like watching TV/Movies online.
