For hardcore gamers or even casual ones, one of the best things about video games, aside from the actual game itself, is the music that accompanies it. A lot of the soundtracks of the most popular titles can actually be listened to apart from the game and can also be at par with the other non-game mainstream (or indie) albums that you listen to. Spotify has recognized this and introduced a hub dedicated especially to all of these soundtracks as well as curated playlists for gamers.
The Spotify Gaming Hub contains soundtracks to both classic and newly-released titles. Just some of those that are in their catalog: No Man’s Sky, the complete Halo series, Portal, Uncharted 4, Mega Man, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, Journey, Destiny, Castlevania, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V, etc. They also feature curated playlists that can match the game that you’re currently playing. You can choose from the likes of “ultimate hip hop gaming,” “ultimate rock gaming,” “gaming anthems,” and “epic gaming,” and others that they’ll probably add later on.
One of the best things about Spotify is that aside from the playlists that are made by “experts” in Spotify, the community can make their own as well and share them with the rest of the world. These playlists can include both tracks from the original music, as well as songs from “regular” artists but which can match whatever your gaming mood is that day.
You can head over to spotify-gaming.com where you can choose from Community Playlists, Original Soundtracks, and Spotify Curated pages. It’s not showing up yet in their apps, but of course, eventually it will make its way there.
