If you’ve always wanted to have a Galaga and Guitar Hero crossover, your wish has just come true. That is, if you have a Samsung Gear VR or an Oculus Rift. A new game called Starship Disco is a combination of an arcade shooter and a rhythm-based game packed with a virtual reality twist. You’ll be heading out to outer space to fight aliens, but once there, you will have to rely not just on your shooting ability but also on your sense of rhythm.
Your ride to space is a starship and your main mission is to shoot down the aliens that are trying to take over the earth (aren’t they always?). But instead of just setting your ship’s guns on them, you would also need to shoot them to the beat of the music that is currently playing. So if you kind of don’t have a sense of rhythm, you will probably be captured by the aliens in no time.
The music that you need to follow can either be part of the game’s default tracks or you can also use any music that is locally stored on your device. The aliens will also react to your music, so better choose wisely. Your score will be based on how accurate you shoot them down and also you have to do it in time with the music. Of course your score will become higher the more accurate you are in both.
You can download Starship Disco from the Oculus Store. Remember that you can only play this on your Samsung Gear VR or your Oculus Rift. It will also be coming to Steam soon so you can also play it on the HTC Hive.
