If you’ve been using Inbox by Gmail as your default email app on your mobile device, then you’ve probably enjoyed all the new features they keep adding which actually makes it one of the best ones currently out there (yes, sometimes even better than the actual Gmail app). The latest update adds even more things that can help you become more productive and to help you get things done, which includes integration with Trello and GitHub, better access to Google Alerts, and some other minor but helpful changes.
First off, if you’re using the project management app Trello and the software collaboration platform GitHub, then you’ll probably be happy with their integration with the Inbox app. You’ll get a summary of all your Trello projects to make sure you’re not missing on anything. For Github, you also get a summary of the code changes for all the repositories you’re working on. You will still need to open the apps and programs of course, but at least you get a summary in your Inbox that will help you act on things that needed to be acted on.
If you keep tabs on a lot of topics with your Google Alerts, you’ll know be able to look at the results like a newsletter because they’re now summarized in one email. You can click on the ones that you think is worth reading and those that aren’t, just mark it as done. Other minor changes include inserting Google Drive links in emails, saving email attachments to Drive, drag and dropping contacts between the to, cc, and bcc fields when you compose on the web, and the ability to delete from the inbox directly.
You can update your Inbox by Gmail to enjoy all these features. They also promise to add more email senders to integrate to the app, so if you have any suggestions, you can let them know.
