It took the South Korean automaker some time since the 2015 Hyundai Sonata owners were allowed to download and install Android Auto. Hyundai continues with the smartphone integration so more vehicle owners will be able to enjoy the benefits of a more high-tech and digital infotainment system.
More car models will have the Android Auto dashboard including the 2015 Azera, and the 2016 Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, Veloster, and Azera. This car-phone integration is offered free for existing owners and can be easily availed through a simple software update from MyHyundai.com. After rollout for the 2017 models, Hyundai made sure that older vehicles will get their chance of going digital. Aside from the models mentioned a while ago, the 2017 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport are also getting Android Auto or CarPlay support.

It’s easy to do do the software update. Make sure you have the SD card and VIN number from your Navigation system. You may watch DIY installation videos first but MyHyundai.com also offers complete installation guides to walk you through the whole process. Upgrade time will depend on the speed of your Internet.
Please note that you need an Android 5.0 Lollipop-running phone as a minimum requirement. Install the Android Auto app first on your phone and connect to your car using a micro USB cable.
